Otoplasty Procedure & Recovery

The surgery is detailed and requires careful measurements. Performed under general anaesthesia, the otoplasty procedure can take up to four hours to achieve optimal results.

Pre-Operative Instructions

  • Avoid Nurofen (ibuprofen), vitamins, or any nonsteroidal medications for 10 days before and after the operation to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.

During Surgery

  • Correction of prominent ears involves reshaping the ear cartilage and repositioning the ears closer to the head.

Post-Operative Care

  • A head dressing is applied and remains on for one week. It must be kept dry, and it’s important not to insert fingers under the dressing to prevent infection.
  • Antibiotics are prescribed to prevent infection.
